In 2014 Dalziel Racing bought just two fillies from the Gold Coast Magic Millions Sale. One filly was CATCH A FIRE, a Group 2 winning daughter of Sebring and the other was today’s impressive Balaklava winner DEVIOUS MAID. A sister to former Dalziel Racing star BRING ME THE MAID the 4yo daughter of Sebring was having just her second start for leading Adelaide trainer Phillip Stokes when a comprehensive winner over 1400m. With stablemate and Dalziel Racing runner Scarlett Fox out of contention from the start after throwing jockey Dom Tourneur as the gates opened, Devious Maid sat comfortably up on the speed before cruising to the lead with 300m to go and going on to record an easy 2.5L win for jockey Matthew Nielson.

It has taken the 4yo a little bit of time to put it all together, however with one win and 5 minor placings to her name she looks to have worked it all out and will now aim to work through the grades and hopefully one day reach the heights of her famous sister from a few seasons ago.

As for our other runner Scarlett Fox, today wasn’t her day, however she has a tonne of ability and will get her time to shine soon enough.

Well done to the Devious Maid team and here’s to many more!!
